As a ski cultural center for all things fun and crazy on snow, you can bet all the après-ski and nightlife scene will delight anyone looking for an authentic experience. Squaw offers guests everything from beer-guzzling heaven and traditional Irish pubs to throwback après bars and late night dance parties.
If you’re in the mood for good Mexican food and great drink prices, Cornice Cantina is where you want to be. This locals hotspot, which see a large ski patrol and mountain ops crowd, is a great option for mingling on sunny afternoons or late-night dance parties. Rocker at Squaw is also a good place to drop in for some past and present-day skiing and snowboarding culture. This bar pays homage to Palisades Tahoe’s many ski heroes and heroines, and provides a media center where aspiring athletes can present their video edits. You’ll find DJs spinning on Friday and Saturday nights. Cantina is located a bit off the base village beaten path in the middle of the East parking lot. If your ideal Palisades Tahoe nightlife scene is a bit more traditional, you’ll love the Auld Dubliner. This Irish pub is a great spot to enjoy live music and of course, whiskey and beer.
A drink, or three, is in order at Bar One after a long and satisfying day on the slopes. Bar One is located in the Olympic House and has been recently refurbished and has an ideal place to grab a drink.
As home to Palisades Tahoe’s best outdoor après scene, you can bet the party is always lively at Le Chamois. It’s the spot for hardcore skiers and snowbaorders to see and be seen. In fact Powder Magazine once wrote that Le Chamois is “a vortex that draws people in at the end of the day where they can brag about what they skied.” Plus, a tirade of impressive drink specials—check out the Buddy Pass—doesn’t hurt. The inside bar is bedecked in ski gear knick knacks from the past 40 years.
Après-seekers with a more refined palate should stop at the PlumpJack Bar located at Palisades Tahoe’s top-notch restaurant PlumpJack Café. The bar offers a happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. It’s a great experience for wine-lovers, as PlumpJack offers a “mystery wine flight” for just $15. And while you’re there be sure to make a reservation for dinner, as this place is in high demand.
