Don’t let Palisades Tahoe’s report as an extreme skiing destination, nor the steep, cliff-littered slope from the base area under the tram, deter you. The Palisades Tahoe intermediate skiing is an experience you don’t want to miss. With 45 percent of the terrain designated as pristine, blue groomers, intermediates on a Palisades Tahoe ski vacation are sure to enjoy.
Palisades Tahoe has tons of blue-square terrain to explore, but to the beat the crowds and get the most out of your Palisades Tahoe lift ticket, you’ll want to spend some time off of the Squaw Creek chairlift, which features incredible meandering groomers. Since the area is located on the outskirts of the main resort base village, it enjoys fewer crowds. A ride, or ten, up Palisades Tahoe’s famed tram is a must-do for any intermediate skier or snowboarder. From the High Camp and Gold Coast mid-mountain lodges, intermediates have their pick of terrain. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearly entirely blue square trails off of the Shirley Lake Express chairlift. You’ll feel like you’ve found your own piece of paradise; perfect cruisers, lots of sunshine and an absence of the famed, extreme Squallywood crowd. If you’re looking to check out what all the fuss is about, take a few laps on Siberia Express. The chairlift accesses several blue runs on the outskirts of Siberia Bowl and provides optimal spectator spot for watching the local young guns straight-line the Palasades chutes, and get some incredible air-time. Just don’t be surprised if you see some naked skiers.
