Northstar may not be the cheapest ski vacation known to man, with day lift tickets over $100, upmarket restaurants and luxury accommodations as the majority lodging option. But, skiers and boarders on a budget don’t need to take Northstar off the table as an affordable ski vacation; it just takes some planning and research to make this North Lake Tahoe resort a viable option. For example, opt for a condo and split the cost between a group of friends or family members. Plus, condos make cooking in the unit much easier, allowing you to save some money on meals.
Budget-conscious skiers and snowboarders will find that they can’t beat Northstar Resort Condominiums’ amenities to price ratio. Located a short walk to the ski bus stop, these condo units offer guests an outdoor pool and hot tub, steam room/sauna, fitness facilities, restaurants and lounges and ski shuttle services.
If you’re looking to grab a quick (and cheap) bite, then that’s something Northstar has mastered. The resort features a fleet of Euro kiosks all over the base area and up on the mountain. The kiosk cuisine varies between gelato, crepes, French hot dogs and other European tasties, and no single item exceeds $12. Pizza is always an affordable option even in an upscale resort village, so head to Rubicon for their tasty and reasonably priced pies that range from $13 to $25.
TC’s Pub features a build your own burger bar for under $10. You can add toppings for an additional $1 to $2, depending on your selection. The vast majority of TC’s menu items are in the $10-$11 range, so you’re pretty much golden no matter what you choose.
