Surrounded by New Hampshire’s famous White Mountains, Loon Mountain offers two 2,000-plust-foot peaks with diverse terrain serviced by 12 lifts, including a four-passenger gondola and three high-speed quads. Over the last couple years has invested several million dollars into snowmaking capacity. When skiing or riding Loon Mountain, you’ll find glades, bump runs, steeps and gentle beginner runs.
Loon is just two hours from Boston, making it an easy day trip or stop on a New England ski resort tour. Loon’s Adventure Center offers cross country skiing trails, snowshoe rentals and tours, ice skating and an indoor climbing wall. There is also lift-served and walk-up tubing which is perfect for families, couples and singles alike. Additionally, The Lincoln-Woodstock area also offers a host of family fun.
Loon Mountain is big by East coast standards; this popular resort boasts 2,100 vertical feet on 61 trails. The resort offers every type of skier their ideal terrain: 20 percent is designated as beginner, 60 percent is intermediate and 20 percent is expert. A Loon ski vacation is ideal for freestylers, as the resort is home to seven award-winning terrain parks and 425-foot long Superpipe with 18-foot walls.
